Questions About Excavation and General Contracting Around Sunnyside
These are common questions about excavation, demolition and general
contracting around Sunnyside. They cover the work we do and how the
written quote works. If yours is not here, call or text and we will
answer it.
An excavation contractor moves earth so the ground fits the plan. For us, that means mass excavation, site preparation, grading and building pads, plus demolition and orchard removal. Mass excavation is the big earthmoving, with cut and fill for shops and commercial sites. We haul gravel in and haul dirt or debris out on our own trailer.
Do you tear down houses and barns?
Yes. We handle house and barn demolition, and garages and old shops come down the same way. We tear out old concrete too, and we haul the debris away. We take down whole structures, not interiors like a kitchen.
Can you get my lot ready for a shop or a house?
Yes. Site prep starts with clearing and stripping the lot, then digging for the foundation and rough grading. Once the foundation is in, we backfill around it. The utility lines go in with another trade after we prepare the site.
Do you pour concrete pads and slabs?
Yes. We cut and level the pad, then build a compacted gravel base. When you want concrete, we pour the slab on that base. Shop pads, garage pads, house pads and camper pads all start this way.
Can you grade my driveway or fix water running toward the house?
Yes. We do driveway grading and gravel driveways, plus lot and yard grading. If water runs toward your house, we regrade the ground and cut a swale so it drains away. Finish grading leaves the ground smooth for gravel or grass.
Do you pull out old orchards?
Yes. The Lower Yakima Valley has a lot of orchards, and orchard removal is part of our dirt work. We pull the trees with their stumps and roots, then haul or pile the wood. The ground is left clear for the next crop or a building site. One of our jobs cleared 2 acres of old apple orchard.
Do you build shops and carports?
Yes. We have a general contracting license. Our general contracting work covers shops and outbuildings, carports, fences and gates, and decks and pergolas. Past builds include a 20 by 30 three-bay carport and almost 400 feet of fence.
How much does excavation cost?
We price each job after we look at it. The size of the job and the ground set most of the price. Access counts too, and so does how much material has to come in or go out. Then we put the quote in writing, with the work spelled out.
What area do you serve?
Sunnyside sits at the center of our service area, and we work about 50 miles around it. Up the Yakima Valley, that reaches Granger, Zillah, Toppenish, Wapato, Yakima and Selah. Down Interstate 82 to the east, it reaches Grandview, Prosser, Benton City and the Tri-Cities. Larger excavation or demolition jobs farther out in Washington are quoted on request.
